What Could Go Wrong On My Motorcycle Tour And How Should I Proceed?

These days, one of the best ways to holiday is by motorcycle – it allows you to feel the wind in your hair, get up close and personal with the sights and sounds of the culture, and to meet some great new people. There are, however, a number of things that could go wrong on your motorcycle tour – being prepared for them will ensure that you know exactly what to do should an issue arise:

YOU ARE INVOLVED IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

This often the first issue that springs to mind and is also the last thing that you want to occur whilst travelling. If you are involved in an accident, even just a small bingle, make sure you speak with your tour guide. Please be aware that you will be liable for damage to the bike.

YOU LOSE ONE OR ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

This is another issue that quickly springs to mind and can lead to all sorts of legal problems. It is important that you keep your passport, license and tickets in a safe place on your person. If they do go missing, speak with your guide immediately and resort to your scanned copies.

YOU TAKE A WRONG TURN

This is actually a fear of many people embarking on a motorcycle tour, especially if travelling in a country where English is not the main language. Try to memorise the route and keep your group in sight at all times, but make sure you ask for directions if you do get lost.

YOU FIND YOURSELF STRANDED WITHOUT FUEL

This is another fear of travellers; your motorcycle slowly putters to a stop and the rest of the tour disappears into the distance without you. If this happens, ask for directions to the nearest shop or even house where fuel is available. Please be aware that it will cost you a small fortune.

YOU OR YOUR WHOLE TOUR IS DELAYED

This is something that does occur on the odd occasion. Your tour will begin at a designated time each day – if you are unable to make it to the rendezvous point on time, you will need to set off alone. If the tour as a whole is delayed, just wait around the rendezvous point.

Whilst you don’t want to think about something going wrong on your motorcycle tour, it is important that you are prepared for every possible scenario. By being aware of the issues that could arise during your travels and how you should proceed, you will be less likely to panic and will get the issue sorted quickly. If you have any worries, don’t hesitate to speak with your guide.
